Aims to ensure that the public service in Northern Ireland exploits new and emerging Information and Communication Technologies for the delivery of services to the public.

CITU(NI)’s customers include Ministers, Members of the Legislative Assembly, and Business Managers & IT professionals across the Northern Ireland public sector. Within its overall vision CITU(NI)’s mission is to deliver in Northern Ireland the Executive’s vision for electronic service delivery. This vision is in line, particularly with Section 7 of the Programme for Government.

CITU(NI)’s primary objectives are to:

  • develop policies, strategies, standards and guidelines for IS/IT in the public service in NI and to take forward Executive initiatives in respect of electronic service delivery
  • provide leadership and guidance to Northern Ireland Departments and the wider public service in delivering customer centric government services consistent with the requirements of the Programme for Government (full text)
  • foster strong professional relationships with private sector companies and local universities in furtherance of the provision of electronic service delivery
