A national non-governmental organisation with members committed to the promotion of international health and development. CSIH members offer a network of experts and experience with the Canadian government, international agencies, non-governmental organisations and academia. CSIH also serves as the technical representative in Canada for the Pan American Health Organization, the World Health Organization’s regional office. In this role, CSIH promotes observance days such as World Health Day, and links Canadian individuals and organisations with their colleagues throughout Latin American and the Caribbean.
CSIH activities include:
- Operates a database of international health expertise for those wanting work overseas and for potential employers;
- Facilitates networking and links among those who share interests in health in development through various means, including both electronic and print media;
- Offers and supports professional development events, including the Canadian Conference for International Health;
- Manages projects for CIDA, PAHO, the World Bank, DFAIT and Industry Canada in Latin America, Central & Eastern Europe, Africa and Asia;
- Advocacy activities focus on peace and health and monitoring the impact of trade on health in the global economy

- CSIH’s two electronic news bulletins on a weekly basis, Synergy On-Line: as a supplement to their print newsletter, the primary focus is notices, bulletins and job listings in international health and development; PAHO News: the focus of this newsletter is to disseminate information about the activities of PAHO;
