<p>Climate change poses a great challenge for the health and productivity of the oceans.</p>

<p>At its fourteenth session, the Permanent Forum appointed Valmaine Toki, a member of the Permanent Forum, to conduct a study on the relationship between indigenous peoples and the Pacific Ocean, taking into account issues of governance, the effects of climate change, deep sea mining, resources and sustainable development (see E/2015/43, par.44).</p>

<p>The outcome of the study and the recommendations related thereto are set out in the report, which is hereby submitted to the Permanent Forum at its fifteenth session.</p>
