International NGO aiming to promote forestry and forest products research and standardisation of research techniques. Organisation is divided into a number of topic-specific task forces.

Information services include:

  • WWW server: information on the organisation (including the publications/research/newsletters of IUFRO Divisions and the Special Programme for Developing Countries (SPDC) and its associated networking activities. Includes full text of a few publications.
  • Agency Support for Forestry Research (ASFOR), designed to assist in identifying those agencies that have a potential interest in supporting specific forestry research and training activities in a given region, country or agro-ecological zone. It provides initial contact names and addresses of these agencies and offers a series of assisted search routines to sort, select and print relevant information. The program is text-based and is aimed at developing country research and forest management staff. N.B. The ASFOR database is currently being developed and is not available for general distribution at this time (May 1993).
