Series of lists aimed at the library/librarianship sector (with UK bias). Individual lists are:

(a) lis-ctilis: Lis-CTILIS is a discussion list for the topic of library user education (sometimes called bibliographic instruction or library orientation instruction, especially in the USA), and more especially the use of computer-assisted methods in the delivery of this instruction.

(b) lis-enquiries: LIS-Enquiries is the main forum for libraries on JANET to distribute surveys and information: most libraries have at least one member. It is also the communication channel for the JANET User Group for Libraries (JUGL). It was set up by SCONUL’s ACIS to provide a cumulating index to email surveys.

(c) lis-link: A list for news and discussion, open to the entire Library and Information Services community. This list supersedes the lists lis-info, lis-bubl, lis-it, lis-is, lis-poly and lis-univ.

(d) lis-research: Mainly for the interests and concerns of Research Council libraries and their staff.

(e) lis-x500: A news and discussion list for participants in the project to develop library based applications for X.500 .

(f) lis-new-users: This list aims to allow individuals, particularly from the library community, who are new to electronic mailing lists to try things but without being inhibited by more experienced users. The list owners will respond to test messages sent to the list and offer assistance if required.

(g) lis-all: superlist for the lis group of lists. A member of any other lis list does not need to explicitly subscribe to this list because s/he will receive mail directed to it by virtue of her/his existing membership.
