Collection of materials on the British Empire, Commonwealth and member countries (mostly historical materials, collection began in 1868). Comprises some 300.000 printed items and 70,000 photographs.
Collection is now housed by Cambridge University Library (see separate entry). Collection is not included in the University’s online catalogue.
Photographic collection has materials from mid 1850s to 1980s, and covers a wide assortment of material documenting the topography, architecture and life of Britain’s colonial dependencies as well as records of specific historical events.
