The aim of IPEC is to work towards the progressive elimination of child labour by strengthening national capacities to address child labour problems, and by creating a world-wide movement to combat it. The priority target groups are bonded child labourers, children in hazardous working conditions and occupations and children who are particularly vulnerable, i.e. very young working children (below 12 years of age), and working girls. Is responsible for Statistical Information and Monitoring Programme on Child Labour (SIMPOC), an interdepartmental programme to help approximately 50 member countries, over a five year period, generate comprehensive and reliable comparable quantitative and qualitative data on child labour in all its forms.
