HSI serves as the focal point for activities related to sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS in WHO. It functions as a bridge with UNAIDS so that, on the one hand, WHO helps to shape and support UNAIDS, and, on the other hand, UNAIDS is able to work through WHO to achieve its objectives especially in the health sector.
