Global Forest Watch promotes transparency and accountability by:

  • tracking the actors (corporations, government agencies, individuals) that are sponsoring development activities,
  • mapping out where these actors are operating, and
  • monitoring the degree to which these actors are following national and local management laws and regulations.

The website contains a range of reports looking at development pressuresaffecting forests in key regions of the world and mapping remaining intact old growth and primary forests. The areas covered include
