KIMEP’s Center for Research and Development is an interdisciplinary research unit concerned with basic and applied research in the field of social sciences, economics and business. It focuses on post-soviet developments in Kazakhstan and Central Asia in general.
The main purpose of the Center is to promote research as a way of enriching academic services at the Institute and enhancing social and economic environment of the region. The area of research covers a wide range of subjects, from political transition, civil service reorganization, finance and banking sector reform to interethnic relations.
Since its establishment, the main goals of the KIMEP Center for Research and Development have been:
- to conduct social survey studies on economic, social, and political issues
- to study and analyze economic, business, and government issues
- to study interethnic relations in the Central Asian republics with a focus on Kazakhstan
- to publish scientific journals, monographs, research papers, and articles
- to organize and conduct conferences, seminars, and workshops at the national, regional, and international levels
KIMPEP also offers Masters Programs in Business Administration, Economics and Public Administration, and evening courses of continued education for professionals working in the oil and gas industry.
KIMEP’s Research Center organized more than ten conferences, symposia and forums on the issues ranging from Kazakh environmental policy and law to special projects on the development of local oil and gas industry.
