Arab Monetary Fund is a regional Arab organization which is committed to the following objectives:

  • correcting disequilibria in the balances of payments of member States.
  • the removal of restrictions on current payments between member States.
  • establishing policies and modes of Arab monetary co-operation.
  • providing advice, with regard to policies related to the investment of the financial resources of member States in foreign markets
  • the development of Arab financial markets
  • increased trade among member States

Part of the AMF is the Economic Policy Institute which undertakes research into economic policy issues of Arab countries. It works in partnership with agencies and institutions in the member countries. The EPI also provides training courses for mid-level officials and policy seminars.

The AMF has many publications:

  • Arab Countries: Economic Indicators (1990-2000) which includes statistical economic data, i.e. National Accounts, Public Finance and indicators for Arab Countries for the years 1990 to 2000
  • Joint Arab Economic Report: An annual report on economic developments in the Arab countries prepared jointly with the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, the League of Arab States and the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC)
  • Money and Credit Statistics (1990- 2000) which includes the money and banking statistics for each Arab Country, valued in domestic currency
  • Balance of Payment and External Public Debt Statistics (1990-2000)

The AMF website includes online publications as well as statistics bulletins and a daily index for the Arab capital markets performance.
