SU/TCDC’s main activities are:

  • carrying out research, studies and analyses on TCDC issues
  • monitoring TCDC activities worldwide
  • reporting on progress made to the biennial sessions of the United Nations High Level Committee on the review of TCDC
  • assisting developing countries in the development of TCDC policies, legislation and information systems
  • assisting developing countries in TCDC programming
  • mobilizing supplementary financing for TCDC
  • strengthening focal points
  • developing and managing the Information data base WIDE

Publications of the unit, which are available on the website, include Cooperation South, a themed journal on Southern development issues, and ‘sharing innovative experiences’, volumes that aims to identify, collect and describe practices and experiences by institutions and experts from developing countries that have been successful in solving environmental, social and development challenges.

The site also contains a database, called WIDE, of southern experts, institutions and best practice examples.
