Farm Community Trust of Zimbabwe was formed in 1996 by Save the Children (UK) and the Commercial Farmers’ Union with the active support of the General Agriculture and Plantation Workers’ Union of Zimbabwe (GAPWUZ) and the Government.

The mission of FCTZ is to both raise farm workers standard of living and to see farm worker communities participate in mainstream development. The organisation has five main programmes:

  • Relif and recovery
  • Basic eduction
  • Research
  • Health
  • Early child education and care
  • Communications, advocacy and lobby
