The Centre for Nepal and Asian Studies is a research centre within Tribhuvan University. The research programme of CNAS covers six areas:
- culture and heritage studies
- social change and development studies
- Himalayan studies
- Nepalese political studies
- South and East Asian studies
- women’s studies
The Centre also functions as the academic contact point within the university system for the affiliation of all foreign scholars working on Nepalese studies. CNAS publishes reports of completed research in Nepali and English in the form of books, monographs, bibliographies and occasional papers on specialized themes. It also publishes a biannual multidisciplinary journal, ‘Contributions to Nepalese Studies’.
