The Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute was established in 1967 and aims to describe, manage and prevent the key nutritional problems facing Caribbean countries, and to increase their capacity to provide effective nutritional services. It runs training courses, conducts research programmes on food and nutrition, and maintains a library. Its main research areas include:

  • prevention and control of diet-related chronic diseases
  • control of iron deficiency anaemia
  • reduction of under-nutrition in children
  • improvement of household food security.

Its website includes details of its research, services and special events, and links to nutrition-related sites.
