The Agenda Feminist Media Project was founded in 1987. It began as a journal, the initiative of a small group of women activists and academics working in and around Durban. The project has developed over the years to include four programmes and a website. These programmes include:
- a journal that creates a space for women to publish their own work
- a radio programme translated into Zulu, Xhosa and Sotho, providing women and communities generally, with information they can use to translate paper rights into meaningful concrete actions which contribute towards day-to-day improvement in their quality of life
- an internship to provide one aspiring journalist per year hands-on experience in the media industry
- a writing programmes to mentoring 24 new writers in analytical writing skills each year
From Agenda’s webpage, there are links to the different programmes, subscription information, and an online community.
