SECS works to promote the conservation of environment and achievement of sustainable development through community participation in Sudan. Its target group is the public at large with emphasis on local communities, decision makers, teachers, law people, women, farmers, pastoralists and local leaders. Core activities include an environmental literacy program. SECS also started the Environmental Forum, a grouping of academics, environmental specialists, technocrats, politicians and representative of National NGOs, which oversee small pilot projects concerned with conservation of environment and the alleviation of poverty in rural and sub-urban areas.
