Land resettlement in Zimbabwe has captured headlines around the world. Zimbabwe’s second Land Reform and Resettlement Programme was initiated in 1997 to redistribute five million hectares of land. But to what extent does it adhere to the rationale of planners? Does it pay sufficient attention to the voice of local stakeholders? Research by the University of Bradford explores the perceptions of local stakeholders and seeks to find out what they can add to the planning and implementation processes. Several policy weaknesses are identified by different stakeholders but all agree on the need for land redistribution.
