Many Strong Voices (MSV) was established in Montreal, Canada, in December 2005 to raise awareness on the effects of climate change in the Arctic and Small Island Developing States (SIDS). Since then, MSV has worked to bring together over 20 organisations from these two regions to take collaborative and strategic actions on climate change mitigation and adaptation at the local, regional and international level.

Three core objectives are:

  • build a stronger voice in international negotiations
  • raise awareness about the effects of climate change on vulnerable regions
  • increase understanding of the needs, solutions and practical measures for adaptation.

Many Strong Voices is coordinated jointly by UNEP/GRID-Arendal and the Center for International Climate and Environmental Research – Oslo (CICERO).
